TIPS, TRICKS AND FAQ:
  • What is first quest in city? Near the exit to the wilderness is the correct dungeon entrance for the first quest. Find secret entrance into the dungeon and find secret stairs into the next floor. It's a bit east of the gate in an enclosed area. First you have to go to the southeast isle (inside Larvin). The way leads through the dungeon. Use entrance at 19 east/ 6 north. Follow stairs to level 2. Then you'll find the boulder at 29e/5n. You can move the boulder with a switch nearby. Probably at 32e/6n. Below the boulder there are the next stairs to level 3. Now fight your way through the third level and seek a way up to Larvin again. The correct exit is on the southeast isle. Travel to the isle in the west of Larvin and to the castle. On the isle you'll meet Mulradin. He will give you the next hints. In the castle there's a golden switch to activate the city teleports that connect isle/castle with the rest of the town. (OP / Runetek)

  • After you have gathered all equipment from the destroyed inn you should head for Larvin in order to form a party. Recommended is 2 or 3 fighters (at least one Banshee or a Warlock) and 3 to 4 mages (Fairies or Nymphs). One of the mages has to be a healer. Some characters have special abilities which are important! The party member with the highest charisma is best for recruiting in the taverns. (Amiga Joker 11/92)

  • In the beginning of the game money will be a problem. That's why you should open a savings and a general account at a bank (compare interest rates of the banks !). (Amiga Joker 11/92)

  • When it rains, there are much less living beings on the streets in towns - so you can cast an Elementary spell RAIN to cause rain and sometimes diminish the number of fights. (Pawel Matusz)

  • In dungeons be sure to always carry a lamp or have the Elementary spell LIGHT (or Conjurer LIGHT, or Enchanter LIGHT, but they have a shorter effect). (Pawel Matusz)

  • The Elementary INVISIBLE spell is a good one when you want to ommit fights - but it doesn't work everywhere (i.e. in some dungeon levels or the Inner Death Zone of Thardan). (Pawel Matusz)

  • In Larvin you'll find a dead girl (Marina). You don't have to join her but she will make some things easier, so better get her with you. But important: Don't let her make any actions in combat!!! She has to be completely innocent to kill Miras Athran! (Listen to Mulradin in Larvin!) (OP)

  • There are 3 persons that you need for solving the game. Mandrag, Bergarac and Morganna. You'll find Mandrag in the dungeon of Valvice, the others in the final dungeon (much, much later!!). (OP)

  • In Larvin you can find Lich Inn. After talking with Mulradin sleep in the suite, and then the party will find a secret passage! (OP)

  • The hatch in the Catacombs of Larvin on level 2 at location (35,41) can not be entered when you're in Larvin for the first time. Later in the quest you will gain an item that helps to fight the monster inside the pitch, so when you're there for the first times don't try to enter the hatch. (Pawel Matusz)

The Holy Scrolls are good for devastating all enemies at once just before getting into deep trouble. Reading one scroll does the same to each enemy. It simply wipes it out. No matter whether it is a rat or a bunch of Bog Ingrols. (Uwe Brueckner)

  • The potions are self explanatory. The digit of one potion's name tells: 1 - little short time increase, 2 - higher long time increase, 3 - little increase but remaining, 4 - medium increase but remaining, 5 - high increase and remaining. (Uwe Brueckner)

  • The magical wands in most cases inflict harm to an enemy group and disappear after lesser times of use. The magical staffs mostly harm all enemies, if their purpose is for combat. The staffs also stay for longer or quite forever (I've never seen a Gemstaff disappear). (Uwe Brueckner)

  • Marina is a very helpful character. Try to maximize her charisma and stamina. Raising the dead by kissing or healing by touching eats up some points of these properties. The higher these properties the more she can heal or, if needed raise. Kissing immediately after a companion had died can give him full properties back besides of raising him from death. That's extremely useful but works only by chance and if Marina has high charisma and stamina. (Uwe Brueckner)

  • Toronar is your man in the beginning of the game. Actually I would say that to raise him is the first quest of the game. After you have him at your side, the Catacombs of Larvin are (almost) childs play. (Uwe Brueckner)

  • A magician will help you much through the game but is not needed of course. Because of his/her "Strength" spell your party will always have maximum strength and therefore will be able to defeat boldest enemies although not having the best weapons yet. Besides that, the more a mage applies his magic spells, the more spellpoints he will get when achieving the next level. That's why a magician will become an overlord mage by time (respect the many uses of the "Strength" spell !). (Uwe Brueckner)

  • A witch of a strong race (e.g. human) also is extremely recommendable. The most powerful weapon of the game can only be used by a witch (find it in the Grotto's Frog chamber and in one of the Grotto's Dracs chambers). Besides that witches have magic ears and therefore can hear magical voices that try to help the heroes in their quest. (Uwe Brueckner)

  • Some other character classes have special abilities. But these are seldomly needed. Join the ones only if you really need them (e.g. an alchimist, who can translate from ancient languages). (Uwe Brueckner)

  • Banshees can learn the use of magic diamonds from Alreena, the keeper of Hernan's Wood which will help defeating dangerous enemies. Learning evoking demons from magic crystals is advisable for mage classes who can't learn fighting spells sooner (but sure, later). (Uwe Brueckner)

  • It is strongly recommended to dig and search all islands of the ocean. Most of them have at least one extremely useful item, armament or vial. Don't forget to get your Warphammer from the Valley of high Weaponry (as I call it) at the remote end of the southern seas ! (Uwe Brueckner)

  • Only enter Mernoc by night. The bad Ingrols and the evil Bog Ingrols tend to do their devastating job in Katloch by night. Therefore you should not wander through Katloch by night if your party isn't strong enough to withstand them. But of course, you should assure that your heroes can defeat them easily, before entering the Agyssium ! (Uwe Brueckner)

  • Don't take the guild's offer of increasing abilities by magic (and money) too soon ! You can learn much from the towners and people in the wilderness. Up to 40 points each can be achieved and that's way enough for the Catacombs of Larvin ! Besides that, the guilds of the other towns are more efficient and increase two up to four points per level ! So think twice ! (Uwe Brueckner)

  • Really interesting guild can be found in Larvin as Masters Guild (geographically next to Lich's Inn). They improve fighting skill 3 points per level ! (Uwe Brueckner)

  • Last but not least a hint for the first chapter: You need a character of 15 years maximum which didn't have an active part in fights yet. (?)

  • I don't advice to instantly form big parties. All characters are weak in the beginning. You can't effort equipping, healing or raising them. Think realistically as the game's story is far more realistic than you probably suppose sometimes ! What you need first is good armament for yourself and a strong companion that can fight you out of deep trouble and carries you if you're dead. (Uwe Brueckner)

  • Take an Alchemist which has goldrain spell with you. Then fill your party. Then go to the cheapest guild in Larvin. Then use all your magepoints with goldrain and restore your magepoints. Then continue doing all these. Your alchemist will have made you earn a lot money and experiance this way! (Juergen Henke)

  • Itīs even cheaper, if you perform the same action next to a healing or spellpoint fountain, e.g. the one at (53,352 - Wilderness) should be reachable for beginners, at least at daytime. (Juergen Henke)

  • High-Level Clerics (about level 60+) are able to avoid any monster you may meet in the world of Fate. They simply can use a prayer to avoid fighting, AND they gain lots of experience for that, probably all the experience points for the monsters. The other players get no experience for that. (Juergen Henke)

  • The master-mages spell 'mindwarp' is extremely useful against monsters with high resistance-spheres, because it seems to simply disable the resistances. In fact there are monsters which canīt be killed without lowering their resistances, at least my mages (Level 150, sphere of magical powers : 253, Spells : Master/Purgatory or Archmage/Evil Hammer) and fighters (Level 160, maximum attribs) werenīt able to kill them! (No, I didnīt cheat! :) In addition to that, it disables all the special attacks, like breathing or spells, the monster are only able to advance, until they are in melee-range and then attack. (Juergen Henke)

  • If characters get killed to often (about 16 times?), they leave the party. The Alarian Chamber sets this value (number of times a character was killed) to zero! (Juergen Henke)

    Lake Edge in the Laronnes
